Topic: Working with & Displaying Data using SharePoint 2010, jQuery and SPServices
This event will show off some not so out-of-box ways to retrieve, display and update your SharePoint 2010 data. In some situations, this data simply needs to be accessible through the “canned” SharePoint pages, e.g. All Items, Display Item, Edit Item and New Item pages. But in many other situations, this data is required to be presented in a more “fashionable” manner with slick, client-side interaction that just isn’t possible using controls like the Data View Web Part or an IFrame.
During this session we’ll take a look at how to develop custom pages that interact with your SharePoint data using jQuery and the jQuery SPServices library. We’ll explore various jQuery user interface controls and effects as well as the SharePoint 2010 supported methods in the SPServices library. This library makes it extremely easy to retrieve and manipulate SharePoint data from any browser.

Patrick O’Gorman has been working in technology for over fifteen years and, over the last decade, has focused on Microsoft .Net technologies almost exclusively. He has worked with SharePoint since the product’s inception and now focuses on building custom solutions using SharePoint 2010 and Microsoft Dynamics CRM. Patrick lives in New Braunfels Texas with his wife and two daughters. He works for Applied Information Sciences and has a focus on building systems for the Federal sector.
